About
Ben Pritchard is the founder and principal designer of Pritchard Landscape Design. With more than 20 + years of experience, he brings a strong knowledge of plants, sustainable practices and hands-on landscape experience to every project.
Ben’s career began at a garden center, where plant care and identification quickly became second nature. He later worked with a nonprofit organization studying biointensive agriculture—methods designed to produce more within smaller spaces while increasing biodiversity and maintaining healthy, fertile soil. After studying Environmental Horticulture and Design, Ben applied his knowledge through landscape maintenance and installation work on large estates throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. This experience gave him a practical understanding of how landscapes are designed, built and cared for over time—and ultimately led him to focus his career on landscape design.
Today, Ben creates personalized landscapes that combine contemporary and modern design with naturalistic planting. His designs often incorporate drought-tolerant and low-maintenance plants, rainwater-catchment strategies and sustainable techniques suited to California’s climate. The goal is to create outdoor spaces that are beautiful, functional and easier to maintain while conserving water and supporting local wildlife. Ben draws inspiration from both nature and the built environment—from the layered textures and seasonal colors of forests and wildlands to the clean lines and materials found in architecture. This balance allows him to create distinctive gardens that complement each property and reflect how his clients want to live outdoors.
