Ben Pritchard has been in the field for 20+ years. The realization of his passion for landscape design began in a Garden Center, where his talent for plant care and identification became second nature. He then transitioned to working for a non-profit organization studying biointensive agriculture techniques, focusing on maximum yields from a minimum area of land, while simultaneously increasing biodiversity and sustaining the fertility of the soil. Ben then began studying Environmental Horticulture and Design in college, which is a broad field encompassing the functional aesthetic and environmentally sound creation and maintenance of our urban rural and natural landscapes. Soon after completing school, Ben began implementing these practices while doing landscape maintenance and installations on various large estates in the bay area. At which point Ben came to realize his true passion and talent for designing the landscapes.
Bens’ designs focus around contemporary and modern design elements while incorporating drought tolerant & low maintenance plant material, rain catchment systems and sustainable techniques to suit the current climate. Applying these methods enable you to maintain your landscape while saving you time, money and energy, also reducing water usage and nurturing wildlife ecosystems. Ben pulls his inspiration for his naturalistic plantings from immersing in nature and diversity in his surroundings. Absorbing design aspects from cities and their architecture, wildlands and forests with their endless color palates and texture combinations.
