Design Process

Initial Consult:

The initial consult visit is a face-to-face meeting where the scope of the project is discussed including goals, basic desires and potential for the garden space. We also discuss the realities of the site and the client’s budget.

Site Analysis:

An inventory and site analysis for the existing conditions and features of the property will be conducted, including complete site measurements and photo documenting of the area to be designed. If possible, the client shall provide any relevant plot plans, architectural plans, engineering plans or site surveys that may be available.

Conceptual Design:

The conceptual design plan illustrates ideas as discussed during the initial consultation with the client. This design includes images of building materials and a plant palette.

Preliminary Design:

The preliminary landscape design establishes a final direction for the project, including any revisions and an estimate of construction costs.

Master Plan:

A master plan is developed incorporating:

  • Demolition plan

  • Hardscape layout plan

  • Planting plan

  • Irrigation plan

  • Detail plans to assure design intent

  • Lighting plan

If desired, assistance with selecting project appropriate contractors to complete garden installation is available.

Small Projects:

Often at the initial consultation it is determined that a full design service is not required. The design service procedure is then modified to fit the needs of the smaller project. Examples of smaller projects are infill planting for an existing garden, or upgrading one area of an otherwise attractive and useful garden space.

Consultations:

Consultations are also available on an hourly basis.
